200-Hour Teacher Training
Led by Jason Bowman
With Estee Fletter, Lauren Cohen, and Haley Havelock
Featuring Nichol Chase, Mike Richardson, Peter Bartesch
The yoga practice thrives as a ritual part of life, a touchstone made of routine reminders of what matters.
We’ve designed a new teacher training that supports the consistency of practice, while uncovering the many details that make it so rich.
One weekend immersion per month, for ten months, interspersed with book groups to discuss some of the best texts on the practice.
We honor the fact that many people take yoga trainings not necessarily to become teachers, but to establish themselves in the practice. This program provides a penetrating look behind the curtain for serious practitioners and aspiring teachers alike, as well as current teachers who are looking for a new frame of reference.
Each weekend will provide a balanced look at a range of topics including alignment principles, functional anatomy, classical yoga philosophy, meditation, pranayama, interpersonal dynamics, ethics, Ayurveda, subtle body intelligence, sequencing, teacher practicum, and more.
We believe there are three core pillars on which to build a yoga training:
Personal Practice
The development of a three-dimensional understanding of the many facets of yoga, as well as the effort to integrate its concepts into personal behaviors and relationships.
Seeing Others
The skill of witnessing, holding space, identifying energetics and aesthetics, and honing the stewardship of an educator.
Communication
The study of how we talk about the things we know and love, without being didactic or a caricature, and the ability to connect with other people through shared fascination and honesty.
The call to practice is said to be the greatest gift one can encounter in life. It can be easy to take for granted, but the impulse to check out yoga has been a turning point in the lives of so many people for centuries. To happen upon the practice can feel like a homecoming, and this training is designed to provide a detailed blueprint of the many structures that hold that home, upright and strong.
