Kirtan with Govind Das - a Pre Bhakti Fest Event

  • The Castro Room 97 Collingwood Street San Francisco, CA, 94114 United States (map)

Join Govind Das in the uplifting and heart opening practice of Kirtan. Kirtan is an ancient bhakti yoga practice using mantra and music as an expression of devotion and prayer. The literal translation of kirtan is "to praise.” Kirtan is described as a "jewel of a spiritual practice" because of its joyful, open-hearted, meditative, and communal feeling. Come sing, dance, and enjoy spiritual community. For the new people to kirtan/chanting, just bring yourself, no special clothes or yoga mat needed. *All attendees will receive a discount code for Bhakti Fest tickets! About: Govind Das is a California-based kirtan singer, bhakti yoga teacher and as his spiritual name suggests -"servant of the divine". He is the co-director/owner of Bhakti Yoga Shala in Southern California. Govind Das's commitment to Bhakti yoga and the ideals of love, service, and devotion is the essence which is reflected and transmitted through his music and teachings. His intention is to share kirtan in the spirit of celebrating life and developing a personal and intimate connection with Source. He leads evenings of kirtan, bhakti yoga workshops, presents at festivals and leads transformative retreats throughout the world. When not chanting kirtan Govind Das loves to spend his time outdoors with his family and friends whether it be surfing, playing tennis or hiking in the mountains.
