Change Your Life While Lying Down: A Pranic Breathing Workshop

  • The Castro Room 97 Collingwood Street San Francisco, CA, 94114 United States (map)

The world keeps us “on”. We move quickly, process constantly, and are navigating so much change. We can rarely give the body and mind a chance to either catch up, integrate or to fully rest.

What if you could shift something deep within you without doing anything more than lying down and breathing?

Pranic breathing is an active breathing practice done while lying down in supported Savasana. Drawing from elements of holotropic and rebirthing breath, the practice works with prana—our life force that resides within the breath—and the Nadis, the subtle energy channels that move prana through the body.

Through sustained, conscious breathing, you begin to move what has become stagnant beneath the surface. Many people describe the experience as sweeping out from under the rug—bringing somatic awareness to places, patterns, emotions, and sensations that may have been quietly held for a long time.

In a culture that often keeps us in a state of constant stimulation, the practice creates a very different kind of space: less doing, less managing, less holding on. You lie down, breathe, and allow the body and mind to move through whatever is ready to move.

There will be light movement to prepare the body followed by approximately 45 minutes of Pranic Breathing. My role is to support you in staying with the breath as the practice unfolds. There is nothing to force and nothing you need to figure out. You keep breathing, stay present, and allow the process to reveal itself.

The breathing is followed by 15–20 minutes of extended rest, giving the body time to settle, restore and integrate. From there, there will be a few minutes of quiet time for writing, followed by optional sharing.

Everyone's experience is different. For many, the practice opens a space for unexpected insight—a sense of connecting the dots, seeing something from a new perspective, or recognizing a pattern that was previously difficult to see. Others experience a profound sense of release or a depth of rest that

By consciously working with the breath, you create an opportunity to move energy, shift your internal experience, and make much need internal space.

No prior breath work experience is necessary.

Please note: Pranic breathing is not recommended during pregnancy or for those with asthma.
